Vietnam (72.6%) has the highest female labor force participation rate among the 18 countries, followed by Singapore (61.8%) and China (59.8%).
In contrast, in India (20.3%) and Saudi Arabia (22.3%), female labor force participation rates are relatively low compared to other countries.
By age, among the Asian countries, East Asia (Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea), Singapore, and Malaysia peak in their late 20s, while Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines peak in their late 30s to 40s.
Vietnam, the United Kingdom and Germany are high even in the early 50s, at more than 80%.
In Japan, there is a so-called "M-curve," which peaks between the ages of 25 and 29, falls gradually and then rises again. The same is true of Korea.
India is only 30% even at its peak of 40-44 years.
