A man, 45 y.o. (me) goes to medical check regularly. Honestly I have never read through the report. Because of these days when I can stay longer at home, I lost my wait and got interested in the report finally. I found that I grew up taller!? 170.5cm in 2015, 171cm in 2017 and 171.3cm in 2020. Am I reaching to the average height of Japanese Male? I have been recognizing myself as "a short person" for almost 30 years. When I played volleyball in Australia, there is a team mate who set her elbow on my head and drunk beer in a bar. Surprisingly I'm still growing (I don't accept any discussion about error or kindness of the staffs). I thought that my height was 169.8cm from medical check long before and have had very minor internal issue from it. When I was asked about my height - well it is very common for volleyball players - I was wondering if I should answer "170cm" or else. I was in between "Am I showing myself bigger?" and "Do you care that 0.2cm?". I'm currently excited enough to consider if I write my height in this blog profile (stupid).

I'm again excited too much and tried to search for the average height of 40th male in Japan. National nutrition research(2019) shows that average height of 40th male in Japan (2019) is ... 171.5cm. ALMOST!! Again I'm stuck for 0.2cm. Unexpectedly average height also grew up. It was 171.3cm in 2018 which is my current height but it grew 0.2cm in a year. Now we (myself and average height) are competing which grows first. Such an exciting battle and you shouldn't leave your eye from it! (I know you are not interested in it)
I also found that the average height of 40th male increased from 159cm (1950) to 171.5 (2019). Government web site refers to some hand writing report in the past and it reminds me of its long history and past nostalgic efforts. In around 70 years, average height of 40th male increase 12.5 cm which is around the height of 350ml cans of beer. I can not stop smiling after imagining that past 40th males walk around with a can on their head.
