  いずれの国でも核家族は約5～6割程度を占める。そのうちベトナムが65.5%（2000年）で最も割合が多く、タイが47.3%（2010年）で最も少ない。 2世代以上同居の家族は、インドが50.3%（2015年）で最も高く、アメリカは15.7%（2015年）で最も低い。 3世代以上同居の家族も、インドが29.4%（2015年）で最も高く、アメリカは3.9%（2015年）で最も低い。 隔世世帯は、いずれの国でも5％未満。そのうちフィリピンが3.0%（2017年）で最も高く、インドとアメリカは1.0%（2015年）で最も低い。

  南アジアと東南アジアは平均世帯人数が多い傾向がみられる。中でも最も多いのがインドで、4.57人。次いで、マレーシア（4.56人）、インドネシア（3.86人）、ベトナム（3.78人）、タイ（3.69人）が続く。 欧米諸国と日本は他と比べて平均世帯人数が少なく、いずれも2.5人を切る。 東アジアと東南アジアの平均世帯人数は著しく減少傾向にある。中国は10年間で-14.4%の減少で、タイは10年間で-14.0%の減少。その他、過去データと比較して10%以上減少している国は、韓国（-12.2%）、ベトナム（-10.4%）、フィリピン（-10.8%）。

  In Japan, the US, the UK and Germany, one person households have the highest proportion among the household composition types. On the other hand, the percentage of couples with children is the highest in all Asian countries except Japan.

  Southeast and South Asia, such as the Philippines and Malaysia, have fewer one-person households than other regions, with 4-5 members having the largest proportion. Many households have six or more members. Western countries, such as the United States and Germany, have more one-person households than other regions. In addition, 2-3 member households have the largest proportion and households with more than that are less common than in other regions.
