[Vietnam] Reducing Rough Hands and Skin Problems / Natural Vietnamese Herbs with Antibacterial Properties
Lemongrass and holy basil, which are believed to have antibacterial properties, are popular.
As more and more people are suffering from rough hands due to the increased use of alcohol disinfection and hand washing as a measure to prevent COVID-19 infection, as well as acne and skin problems caused by wearing masks for long periods of time, there is a growing trend to use Vietnamese herbs as they are gentle on the skin and have antibacterial effects. At Co men Home Lab, which has 11 stores in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and sells natural essential oils, soaps, and cosmetics, the oil derived from Vietnamese herbs is a popular product. The oil is not only antibacterial, but also has aromatic effects such as reducing stress.
At ATZ Healthy Life, which has 23 stores in Vietnam, herb-derived products are also a popular item. Coconut, which has a high moisturizing effect, has been popular for several years, but recently, with the increase in hygiene awareness, herbs with antibacterial effects have been attracting attention, and items using lemongrass, holy basil, and coriander are expected to increase in the future.
Health Ministry proposes dropping herb-derived oil on masks
Over the past few years in Vietnam, cosmetics and soaps using Vietnamese herbs and fruits have been gradually gaining attention among women for their natural origin and good effects on the skin. Then, during the COVID-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Health of Ho Chi Minh City proposed the use of tea tree oil and cayuput oil (a plant similar to tea tree and eucalyptus with excellent disinfecting power) on masks for its antibacterial effect, which drew even more attention to herbs. Since the announcement by the Ministry of Health, brands dealing in natural herbal cosmetics have been posting more and more suggestions on social networking sites on how to use herbal essential oils to keep the air in a room fresh and how to incorporate items that use herbs.
