Description

This report looks at the "now" of the Indian e-commerce market and reveals what communication strategies are best for the "future" of the market.

Summary

The Indian ecommerce market is growing rapidly, with Amazon and Flipkart being the two major platforms driving the expansion of the e-commerce market. In recent years, category-specific sites have also shown growth. Online video is becoming more prevalent with the advent of digitization, and videos from YouTube and other sites are expected to become important touch points for e-commerce purchases. On the other hand, even among consumers who already view online video content at the time of purchase (referred to as "video-intensive consumers" in the report), many of them check out the actual product before making a purchase. This suggests that the mindset of Indian consumers, who want to buy products without too much adventure and with peace of mind, will not change. There is no doubt that e-commerce will become one of the most important sales channels in the future, but even with an e-commerce-centric sales strategy, it is difficult to complete communication digitally, and it is still important to have a system in place that allows consumers to actually see and feel the products in stores and showrooms.
