In four Vietnamese cities, traditional street shops still account for the majority. Market share is growing more rapidly for formats such as mini stores and online retail than for larger offline formats like supermarkets and hypermarkets. In rural Vietnam, traditional street shops are overwhelmingly predominant, accounting for 77% of the market in 2021. Modern retail has seen only a slight increase over the past three years.
