In 2011, the home ownership rate in India remained flat compared to 10 years ago, but by area, the home ownership rate in urban areas increased by 2.4 percentage points.
The homeownership rate in rural areas is extremely high at about 95%, more than 25 percentage points higher than in urban areas.
