[Myanmar] Rapid Growth of Facebook-based "C to C Business" under the Influence of COVID-19
Online classes for career skills and self-improvement foreign languages for young people are popular.
With smartphone penetration exceeding 90% in 2018 and most of the population having access to the internet, online C to C business is gaining momentum. In addition, due to COVID-19, new business styles using Facebook are taking root in Myanmar.
Phyo Phyo Aung, a popular influencer among young people, launched the Facebook page "Chance Myanmar" in 2017 to disseminate knowledge and information she learned from her study abroad experience. In July 2020, she launched an online education platform, offering career skills and self-improvement courses for young people to live a more fulfilling life through an android app.
Phyo Phyo Aung is a successful entrepreneur who is admired for her books and TED talks, but unlike models and actresses, she is also someone who is close to us, giving us the courage to believe that we too can succeed if we work hard. Chance Myanmar has about 490,000 followers on Facebook, and Phyo Phyo Aung's personal Facebook page has about 400,000 followers. (49,000 ks to 99,000 ks / about 3,800 yen to 7,700 yen) from Facebook, and has already attracted more than 30,000 students.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, this trend has become even stronger, and skill-building courses and online classes in foreign languages have become popular. As a result, more and more people are starting online classes at home. khet chan, a Facebook page that provides information about the Japanese language and Japan, has attracted more than 5,000 followers in just two months since its launch on June 7, 2020.
