This report summarizes the lifestyles and perceptions of the next upper class (people with high household incomes and live in relatively urban areas) in Malaysia.

Summary

Malaysians are broadly divided into two groups, "Malay" and "Chinese." There are some similarities and differences between the two groups. The similarities are high interest of education for children and high health consciousness. As for differences, Malay have stronger family ties and put importance on religion in their lives. On the other hand, for Chinese, Chinese networks are quite important, and health and money are cited as important factors in life.

*Research method: Desk research and qualitative interview *Respondent criteria: Monthly household income: About RM10,000-18,000 (about JPY 250,000-46,000)/Area of residence: KL and its suburbs.
